Heads Up on Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)

The DoD’s CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification) is quickly developing and will ultimately affect over 300,000 Defense Industrial Base (DIB) contractors.  Effectively the In short, contractors at all levels of the DIB will need to achieve third-party certification to CMMC, or risk being deemed ineligible to be awarded DoD contracts.  This overview presentation is a good first step to sort through fact and fiction about the forth-coming CMMC program in order to better understand what CMMC will mean to your organization.  We will review the basic requirements of CMMC, the various levels of CMMC, and the timeline for the forthcoming release.  Ample time will be allocated to Q&A to ensure that as many specific situations and questions can be addressed.

Tim has worked in the third-party management systems field for over 20 years, honing his expertise first in ISO 9001 and subsequently in ISO 20000-1, ISO 22301, ISO 27001 and related disciplines (now including CMMC) through that period.  As a certified management systems lead auditor he has led and participated in hundreds of third party audits for organizations in the ICT, finance, manufacturing and service industries around the world.  Tim also serves on various industry groups charged with developing and overseeing international management system standards and oversight of third-party certification to such standards.

As the Business Unit Director at NQA, a leading global certification body, Tim directly oversees NQA’s ISMS (ISO 27001), NIST and CMMC audit programs.  While CMMC is a very new and rapidly evolving development, Tim and the NQA team have been participating in the industry groups developing CMMC since 2019 and stand ready to be one of the leading CMMC Certification Bodies (C3PAO’s), positioned as an early SME on this new and important DoD certification process.
