National Volunteer Week was established by Presidential Proclamation in 1974 to highlight the various opportunities available for those interested in volunteering. National Volunteer Week occurs during the third week in April. It is an opportunity to thank the thousands of volunteers across the country that keep their organizations running, communities safe and provide the services that otherwise would not exist without volunteers. It’s also a time to consider volunteering or providing support to those organizations vital to your community.
